It was the sound of music that marked Independence Day celebrations at Borstal School, Kakkanad. Nadam Music Concerts and Classes organised a music programme for the youths lodged at the corrective centre. In his speech, Nadam director T S Joseph spoke about the positive influence of music on human minds. Thereafter, the nearly two-hour musical show saw the audience swinging to fusion music and popular songs.
The director said that if permitted, Nadam would offer a weekly training course in musical instruments to the inmates at the school.
The programme was organised by Sr Little Teresa and Sr Tesslin of CMC.
Head Warden Harikumar hoisted the Tricolour as part of the celebrations. Superintendent-in-charge of the school delivered the Independence Day message. Borstal School teacher Lawrence coordinated the programme. The students also gave short speeches on Independence Day, in English, Hindi and Malayalam.
