KOCHI: The cruel turn of fate forced Geeta S, a nursing graduate, to lead the life of a security guard at Lisie Hospital here, but she can look forward to better days. An Idukki-based doctor has come forward to help her get a new certificate in place of the one that was burnt by her estranged husband. The doctor, who preferred to remain anonymous, was also willing to help her financially.Geeta, who was working as a nurse in Muscat, was left in the lurch after her husband started living with another family. Express had brought Geeta’s plight to light. The doctor said he found Geeta’s story to be touching as she was deprived of a profession she clearly loves.“It is the financial constraints and the hard life she had to face that landed her in serious plight. What hurt me most was that she was forced to take up the job of a security person after a bright career in nursing. I am willing to help her,” he said.He was even ready to go to Thiruvananthapuram to help her get the certificate. “The Medical Council in Thiruvananthapuram issues certificates for doctors and nurses. Getting duplicate certificates is not difficult if Geeta has any proof of having finished a nursing course. She does not have to worry about money as it costs a mere Rs 1,000,” the doctor said.Geeta hails f rom Mundakkayam in Idukki. On a vacation back home from Muscat, she realised that her husband had abandoned her. On the doctor’s offer, Geeta said, “I am grateful to the person who has come forward to help me. Though he has not yet informed me of his identity, I hope life will get better.”
