CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday directed authorities to provide toilet facilities in 779 schools functioning under the Adi Dravida Welfare Department and allocated Rs 38.95 crore.The CM’s order came after she found out that of the 1,369 schools functioning under the Adi Dravida Welfare Department, only 590 has toilet facilities.The number of schools in each district (except Krishnagiri and Sivaganga districts) which would have toilet facility is: Chennai (8), Kanchipuram (58), Tiruvallur (24), Villupuram (68), Cuddalore (88), Vellore (61), Tiruvannamalai (43), Coimbatore (30), Erode (10), Nilgris (7), Tiruppur (7), Salem (58), Namakkal (11), Dharmapuri (12), Trichi (28), Karur (14), Ariyalur (6), Perambalur (6), Thanjavur (83), Tiruvarur (13), Nagappattinam (47), Pudukottai (11), Madurai (16), Theni (7), Dindigul (12), Ramanathapuram (7), Tirunelveli (17), Tuticorin (12), Virudhunagar (12) and Kanyakumari (3).Each school will get `5 lakh as financial assistance for constructing toilets. The CM has been taking a number of measures for the welfare of the Adi Dravida people and the students hailing from the community, an official release here said.Meanwhile, The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation Limited (TAHDCO) has announced that a month-long entrepreneurship development programme would be held in all districts of the State. The program will be conducted in association with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI).Graduate/Diploma holders between 18 and 35 years belonging to SC/ST can attend the free training program. Eligible candidates should submit the application to the district manager, TAHDCO in their district, before January 18, 2012.
