7/11: 4 held, last link in conspiracy
ATS has claimed a breakthrough as the four could be the last link in the conspiracy behind the 7/11 serial blasts.

Mumbai: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday arrested four persons, suspected to have links with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and SIMI, in connection with the July 11 serial train blasts and claimed a breakthrough as they could be the last link in the conspiracy behind the incidents.

The four arrested were produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody till October 13.

They were identified as Mohammed Shafi, Shaikh Mohammed, Mohammed Majid and Abdul Vahiuddin.

These suspects had allegedly provided logistics support and committed preparatory acts in furtherance to the conspiracy, the sources said adding one of them was from Kolkata while the rest from Mumbai.

Mohammed Majid was arrested from Raja Bazaar locality in Kolkata while two others were picked up from Mumbra in nearby Thane district and the fourth from North Mumbai.

ATS sources claim their arrests to be a breakthrough in the probe as they could be the last link in the conspiracy and the police are hopeful that they may tie up the loose ends.

While Majid is an LeT operative, the others are suspected to have links with banned SIMI, sources said.

A chain of explosions had ripped local train compartments in the peak hours on the evening of July 11 killing nearly 200 persons and injuring over 600.
