MADURAI: A 63-year old school secretary-cum-hostel warden was arrested here on Monday for allegedly watching teenaged girls bathe and sexually harassing them. The shocking incident of sexual abuse happened at a leading private school in Madurai. The accused Krishnan had even ordered some of the girls to keep the doors of the bathroom open.According to five hostellers, aged around 13 years, who had lodged a complaint at the Tallakulam Police Station, on some occasions the accused had even bolted the bathroom door from outside if the girls refused to pay heed to his pervert instructions. “He would peep into the bathroom while we were taking a bath and also beat up some girls when they confronted him. He would hurl expletives and obscene words at us,” one of the girls alleged.This is the second major incident of sexual harassment in a school in this region. Earlier last year, a Government School headmaster Arokiasamy was accused of sexually exploiting his students. The Madras High Court had ordered the district administration to pay compensation to the families of the child abuse victims of the Government School.“We have registered cases against Krishnan under various sections of the Tamil Nadu Women Harassment (Prohibition) Act and the Indian Penal Code.” “He has been booked among other crimes for wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, outraging the modesty of women and using filthy language,” a police officer dealing with the case said.Last month, a sexual abuse was reported in a school in Virudhunagar district.
