New Delhi: Amid lingering terror threat, around 4,000 personnel from all 17 police stations in southeast district and Delhi Police's specialised units, including the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Special Cell, will be deployed for the upcoming World Culture Festival.
The festival, organised by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation, is scheduled to be held on the Yamuna floodplains in the national capital from March 11 to 13.
Around 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for security of the event, with the highest of them being sourced from the local police district, the security unit and the police control room wing, a senior official said.
At least 1,500 officials will be present at the venue even before the event starts and another 500 will be pressed into service in and outside the hotel where the dignitaries, guests and artistes will stay.
Specialised units like the Crime Branch, which includes EOW, the force's counter-terrorism unit Special Cell, the Intelligence Unit and the Special Branch have also been roped in.
Delhi police's PM Security Unit is also involved in the process as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other VVIPs are scheduled to participate in the event.
Earlier this week, Delhi Police received inputs about threat perception to the event, following which it was decided to further step up the security arrangements.
All arrangements are being closely monitored by the 80,000 strong force's top brass, the senior official said adding, manysecurity cameras have been strategically installed and a central monitoring room has been set up.
Quick response teams and Special Weapons and Tactic Teams have also been deployed, apart from dog squads to make sure that every nook and corner of the over 1,000-acre venue is under the security lens.
Two additional deputy commissioner rank officials have been engaged in the arrangements. They have been instructed to camp at the venue to ensure maintenance of law and order till the event ends.
The traffic department is also charting out a plan to ensure smooth vehicular flow during the event.
