Srinagar: Thirty Kashmiri girl students from three prime Srinagar colleges are finally back home after a 10-day empowerment tour organised by the Army. But there is no end to the online abuse they faced for going on an Army sponsored tour.

From calling for social boycott to asking boys not to marry these girls, the abuse has broken all records. But the girls are unfazed.

The Army said 80 girls had signed in for the tour but they could accommodate only 30. The girls were taken to Delhi, Agra and other places. During their tour, the students met President Pranab Mukherjee, HRD minister Smriti Irani and visited Parliament.

But this is not the first time girls have faced abuse. A few years back a ban was slapped on 'Praagaash' - an all girls rock band from Jammu and Kashmir after Kashmir's Grand Mufti had termed the band unislamic.

"I feel like we've been picked out of reality and placed in a dream," said a student.

Despite being trolled for weeks on social networking sites, the Kashmiri girl students who went on an Army's empowerment tour, have stayed defiant. For now, they have brushed aside the criticism.
