BANGALORE: Depressed after her fiance demanded huge dowry and called off the wedding, a HR professional ended her life by hanging at her residence at Vasanthappa block in the R T Nagar police limits in the wee hours of Friday.The deceased Savitha, 25, was an employee with a city-based private firm.According to the police, she was in love with one, Allen Sandeep, and her parents had consented for the alliance. As per Sandeep’s parents’ demand she had also accepted to convert to Christianity. But Sandeep allegedly postponed the wedding and had reportedly started avoiding her. It is also alleged that his parents had asked Savitha’s parents for Rs 10 lakh dowry and a car. On Thursday, he reportedly called her and informed he was not willing to marry her and called off the wedding. “Depressed over it, Savitha hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her room in the wee hours of Friday. Though her parents shifted her to a hospital, she died on Friday morning,” the police added. R T Nagar police have registered a case in this connection.In other incident, Jithendra Sai, 21, a third year BE student at a city-based private college, ended his life by hanging at his hostel room on Friday afternoon. HSR Layout police have registered a case.
