19-year-old drowns after he jumped into pond to retrieve a ball

A young man drowned while attempting to retrieve a ball from a pond in village Jagdishpur Bhaluwan in Gorakhpur, police said on Saturday.

19-year-old Prince, was playing cricket along with his friends when their ball fell into the pond on Friday, police said. In an attempt to retrieve the ball, he jumped  into the pond without realising its depth and drowned, said police.

His body was fished out following a two-hour search operation launched by the police, they said.
