Karachi: At least 14 people were killed and over 40 injured in a powerful bomb attack at a minority Shia mosque in Pakistan's Sindh province during the weekly Friday prayers, police said.
The bombing occurred in Lakidar area of Shikarpur, around 470 kilometres north. Details of the attack were not immediately known but private media said it could be suicide bombing.
Sindh heath minister Jam Mehtab said 14 people were killed and over 40 others were injured in the attack during the Friday prayers. SSP Shikarpur Saqib Ismail Memon confirmed the attack and said around 40 people were injured.
Several injured were said to be in a critical condition. The blast is the latest in a rising tide of sectarian violence blighting Pakistan.
