CHENNAI: The mad rush for applications for MBBS and BDS courses during the first two days of distribution has forced the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to print 10,000 additional forms. While 11,040 forms were sold in 18 colleges across the State on the Day One, 9,844 were sold on Wednesday. According to official sources, the DME hurriedly placed the order for extra forms since the total number of applications sold crossed the 20,000 mark on the second day itself. Further, the announcement that the Class XII mark sheets would be issued on May 30 has triggered panic among students anxious to secure admission to medical courses. This was because the last date for the receipt of completed medical applications along with an attested copy of the mark sheet was set as June 2.With a buffer time of just three days, most students expressed concern that the process of procuring the mark sheets, getting them attested by a suitable authority and submitting them within the small window of time would prove to be a  difficult task. Meanwhile, a few parents, who were patiently waiting to procure application forms at the Madras Medical College, felt that a slight extension of the deadlines would be in the best interest of students.
