John Cena broke the internet when he walked out naked at the Oscars 2024 ceremony. The Peacemaker actor presented the award for Best Costume wearing absolutely nothing, well almost nothing. New BTS photos reveal John Cena covered his butt crack and his modesty with a patch of cloth to avoid any legal issues and complains from audience. In photos gone viral, Cena was seen waiting for his turn in the wings of the Oscars stage sporting the cloth covering him enough to get away without legal issues.
To ensure nothing goes wrong, the team also Velcroed the cue card on the bulge to ensure nothing falls apart. In an interview with Variety, Rob Mills, the exec VP of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, said that the team had to undergo an intense process to get Cena on stage nude. Mills said they also rehearsed the segment in a closed room to stop the surprise from leaking.

“There was a lot of reticence of not just a fine from the FCC, but potential complaints,” he told the publication, adding that the S&P team wanted to let everyone know that Cena was not fully naked.
“I’m going to educate you a little here. A bulge cannot be showing, and you can’t show crack. It was also, ’What happens if he drops that card?’ So, we made sure that, for all intents and purposes, he looked like a Ken doll up front. His crack was covered in the back and then the envelope was Velcro-ed on there so it wouldn’t fall. But beyond that, he was naked,” Mills said.
Oscars producer Molly McNearney added that S&P execs were ‘sweating’. “I think at the end we all got to a spot where we were comfortable, S&P was comfortable, and it didn’t compromise the comedy a bit. I was very thankful that we didn’t have to send him out there in tighty whities, which I’m sure legal would have preferred,” he said.
