Kiev: Andriy Yarmolenko scored the only goal on Monday as Ukraine won a friendly international 1-0 against a Wales team which was missing Gareth Bale over fitness concerns.
Ukraine's goal came in the 27th minute from a well-worked free kick routine with Ruslan Rotan lobbing the ball over the wall for Yarmolenko to prod past Wayne Hennessey.
Both Ukraine and Wales created chances in a game which proved useful for both teams ahead of the European Championship finals.
Wales coach Chris Coleman said Ukraine provided "a good test" with a playing style similar to that of his team's Euro 2016 group stage opponents Russia and Slovakia.
Ukraine could have had a second goal in the 58th when Oleksandr Kucher's header went narrowly wide off Rotan's free kick.
Wales pushed forward late on, forcing Ukraine 'keeper Andriy Pyatov to save first Jazz Richards' low shot at the near post, then Shaun MacDonald's header from the resulting corner.
That continued a run of poor form for Wales, which has only one win from its last six games.
Also on Monday, Northern Ireland made it 10 games unbeaten — a national record — as Conor Washington scored the 41st-minute winner in a 1-0 victory at home to Slovenia.
The Queens Park Rangers forward barged his way past two Slovenian defenders at Windsor Park and dodged a third before hitting the ball low for his first international goal, although Slovenia appealed for a foul.
Northern Ireland goalkeeper Roy Carroll saved a penalty from Milivoje Novakovic in the 65th.
In other games, Moldova beat Andorra 1-0 and the Faroe Islands edged Liechtenstein 3-2.
