Kylian Mbappe was unlikely to join Real Madrid during the pre-season. During the presentation event, held on July 16, Mbappe received a Cristiano Ronaldo-style treatment from the Real Madrid team management. Mbappe’s unveiling in Madrid bore a resemblance to that of the legendary Portuguese footballer’s presentation that took place in 2009.
Journalist Mario Cortegana has now reported that Mbappe will not join his new Real Madrid teammates in the club’s pre-season. The French FIFA World Cup winner recently arrived in the Spanish capital on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
With just weeks to go for the 2024/25 season to start, Carlo Ancelotti and his men are set to travel to the United States for club friendlies.
Cortegana confirmed that the young Frenchman will not be competing in the pre-season. “Kylian Mbappe will not be part of the Real Madrid squad for pre-season tour of the United States,” he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Following Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, the French star was asked about his presence in Real Madrid’s pre-season tour. An excited Mbappe responded warmly saying he would be there if the club wanted him to go.
The Athletic report, by Mario Cortegana, claimed that Real Madrid’s management has decided against Mbappe travelling to the United States for the pre-season. The club has requested the star signing to begin training before the upcoming football season instead. Real Madrid has advised Mbappe to join his new teammates at their Valdebebas facilities from August 7.
Real Madrid’s decision to withdraw Kylian Mbappe from the pre-season was taken to ensure the France international was ready to play in the UEFA Super Cup match. The fixture will see the Los Blancos take on Atalanta on August 14 in Warsaw, Poland.
The club also expects Mbappe’s international teammates, including Ferland Mendy, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga to return to training at the same time as the ex-PSG striker. The management also understands the dates are subject to changes depending on the wishes of the players.
Following back-to-back poor heartbreaking runs at the European Championships, Kylian Mbappe will now be looking for a promising start to his Real Madrid career. The 25-year-old forward will have his eyes set on the upcoming European Super Cup. A trophy on his debut will certainly be a perfect beginning to his career at Real Madrid.
