Manchester United star Casemiro has been accused of faking an injury to not take part in his team’s FA Cup final match against Manchester City. The Brazilian did not feature in Manchester United’s starting line-up for the season’s cup final due to some issues with his hamstring.
Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’s brother Nordin Amrabat recently revealed that Casemiro was fully fit for the final but did not want to participate.
This is what the ex-Watford winger said to Z Select as per Sportbible, “Casemiro was not injured in the FA Cup Final. He found out that he wouldn’t start, so he thought to himself, okay I will sit in the stands then. He was fit to play.”
Before the final against Manchester City, it was reported that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag had already made up his mind to not add Casemiro to the playing 11. The coach’s decision to axe him from the starting line-up for a place on the bench hurt the defender which is why he abstained from the game altogether. Ten Hag later explained the Brazilian’s absence to the media by saying that Casemiro experienced tightness in his hamstring which is why he didn’t want to play.
Casemiro’s absence did not seem to have much of an effect on Manchester United’s performance in the FA Cup final against their arch-rivals Manchester City. The Red Devils pulled off a victory over Manchester City 2-1 to seal the trophy.
Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo proved to be crucial for the win. After Manchester United won the FA Cup, Casemiro collected his winner’s medal and participated in the trophy in his full kit. Casemiro, however, was not seen in the team’s post-match celebrations. It was later revealed that the former Real Madrid footballer had left for a vacation with his family.
Nordin Amrabat’s revelation has now added more fire to Casemiro’s future at Old Trafford. The Manchester United midfielder was already linked with a summer move away from England. There are Saudi Arabian clubs that are reportedly interested in acquiring Casemiro’s services. It is also reportedly being discussed that Al-Nassr are preparing to make a bid of £85 million to bring the player to Riyadh.
