Netherlands beat Mexico 2-1
Robin van Persie celebrated his first international match in six months by scoring two first-half goals, and an under-strength Netherlands squad beat Mexico 2-1 in a World Cup warmup match Wednesday in Freiburg, Germany.
Manchester United-bound forward Javier Hernandez scored after the break, but a resurgent Mexico could not force an equalizer in the final match before Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk planned to announce his final 23-man World Cup squad.

France beat Costa Rica 2-1
Mathieu Valbuena scored in his international debut to help France beat Costa Rica 2-1, with Raymond Domenech's team showing encouraging signs in a new attacking formation.
Valbuena hit a low shot past Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the 83rd minute after coming off the bench in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie.
Domenech, who called up the inexperienced Franck Ribery just before the 2006 World Cup, seems to have taken another clever gamble on the 25-year-old Valbuena, who was playing semiprofessional ball only four years ago.
