Van Persie missed five months last season after injuring ankle ligaments in November while on international duty.
London: Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will be out for at least another month as he recovers from an ankle injury.
The Premier League club said on Tuesday that Van Persie "will be sidelined for longer than first anticipated."
The Netherlands forward injured his left ankle against Blackburn on August 28 and Arsenal says that he "is likely to be out of action until mid-October."
As well as missing Arsenal's first two Champions League group stage matches, Van Persie is also likely to miss the Netherlands' European Championship qualifiers against Moldova and Sweden next month.
