Football Association had been waiting for referee Mike Dean's verdict on the incident.

New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo won't be disciplined over a weekend incident where he kicked out at defender Michael Dawson during Manchester United's high-octane 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Football Association, wise to the flashpoint, have been waiting for referee Mike Dean's verdict on the incident, having given him a chance to consider the pair's tumble and the subsequent kick via video.

Now, Dean has decided that the Portuguese star's kick, which came after Wayne Rooney's stamping controversy during the recent Champions League clash against Aalborg, wasn't bad enough to warrant further consideration by the Association.

An FA spokesman stated: "We contacted the referee, who confirmed he didn't see the incident at the time. Having reviewed footage, he has also confirmed he would not have sent the player off for violent conduct had he seen it.

"On that basis, no further action will be taken."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be pleased, having landed himself a touchline ban and a fine after clashing with Dean last month.
