London: Arsenal have rejected the latest bid from Barcelona for captain Cesc Fabregas, according to Sky Sports. The offer comprised 29 million euros ( £ 25.2m) plus 6 million euros ( £ 5.2m) in add-ons and performance-related payments.
Fabregas himself reportedly offered to put 3 million euros ( £ 2.6m) towards the move as well, but Arsenal are believed to be standing firmly by their £ 40 million valuation.
The Gunners’ majority shareholder Stan Kroenke had reportedly come to London to discuss the offer and it appears that he agreed that the club should demand more from the Champions League winners to sell their talismanic midfielder.
Fabregas took part in an open training session on Thursday but was spared a tricky decision over whether or not to appear in the official team photo, which was postponed due to heavy rain.
Meanwhile, the BBC claim that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis will continue talks with Barcelona on Friday and that the Gunners are yet to receive a second offer from the Catalan club for their captain.
