The Bihar government has transferred 4 Indian Administrative Service officers, including the 2005 batch IAS officer Kumar Ravi. On August 11, Sunday, before the transfer, Ravi accompanied Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his tour program throughout the day. The Chief Minister had gone out to know the flood condition and water logging in Patna. During this, the IAS officer showed the CM the arrangements made to stop the water logging and floods at various places. Ravi, who previously served as the Commissioner of Patna, has been transferred to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Now, IAS officer Mayank Warwade has been made the new Commissioner of Patna. Before working as Patna’s commissioner, Ravi also worked as Patna’s District Magistrate. This space articulates information about Ravi’s educational qualifications and career.
1. IAS Kumar Ravi’s Birth and Early Life
Ravi was born in Nalanda, Bihar and completed his early education here. He also prepared for the Indian Institute of Technology exam and achieved an All India Rank of 142. After securing this rank, he got himself enrolled in IIT Kanpur. He completed his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from this institute.
2. Employment
After finishing BTech from IIT, Kumar Ravi joined a Delhi-based multinational company as an engineer in 2001. He continued working here till January 2002 but was not interested in doing a private job. Therefore, he started preparing for civil services and got selected in the Civil Services Examination 2003. After selection, he joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and started working as an Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax.
3. IAS Services
Ravi continued preparing for Civil Services and finally, in 2005, he got selected in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He took charge as Assistant Collector in the Bihar cadre and played an important role during the relief operations during the floods in Supaul district in 2008. He implemented the relief and rehabilitation schemes of the state government. During his tenure as the District Officer of Supaul, he also conducted the 2009 Assembly by-elections, 2010 Assembly elections, 2011 Panchayat elections and 2012 PACS ( Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies) elections etc.
4. Other works
Ravi has also worked as Supaul’s DM, in Darbhanga and other districts as well. He did many brilliant works during his tenure and also restored peace in the violence-affected areas in the Gaya district. While he was Patna’s DM in January 2018, he took part in the encroachment-free drives and improved the traffic system.
