The Union Public Service Commission recently announced the results of the UPSC examination 2023. Many students have passed the examination despite many struggles and hardships in life. Today, we will talk about one such candidate who cracked the UPSC exam despite many social and financial issues.
Kavya YS, a resident of Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, got 7th rank in the UPSC IFS (Indian Forest Service) exam. She aspired to become an IAS officer since childhood but later struggled with her preparations due to a lack of guidance. Besides the preparation, she also worked in a private company. She appeared for her first attempt in 2017 in which she qualified for the interview round but failed to crack it.
In 2019, she again faced a setback and failed to pass the prelims examination. After facing setbacks, she decided to give up the preparations but her mother inspired her to continue her studies. She then worked harder with full dedication and secured an all-India rank of 7 in 2023.
Kavya studied in a local village school till Class 7. She then moved to a school in the nearby town school for her 10th board examination. Kavya completed her 11th and 12th grade education at a residential school Shree Taralabalu Jagadguru English Medium in Sirigere. She then moved to Bengaluru to pursue a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication. In 2017, she cleared a free coaching exam that is organised by the Karnataka government and shifted to Delhi for further preparations.
Talking about her family in the interview, she mentioned that her father is a farmer and her mother runs a small grocery store in the village. Kavya’s journey to this milestone was filled with challenges. Her family went through financial issues several times, but despite this, she continued her preparation.
Kavya’s mother gave her the inspiration to work harder and reach the milestone. She mentioned that her mother supported her whenever she faced failure and advised her to continue despite all the struggles. She cracked the exam overcoming all the setbacks she faced.
