LSG vs CSK: Captains KL Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad Fined Heavily for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct
Skippers Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been fined Rs 12 lakhs each for maintaining a slow over-rate in the game.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) returned to winning ways on Friday night with a convincing win over the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets. The fans had an optimum dosage of entertainment when a vintage MS Dhoni turned the clock again, smashing 28 runs off just 9 balls after a Ravindra Jadeja fifty to power CSK to 176/6 after a slow start. In reply, LSG skipper KL Rahul single-handedly won the game with an 82-run knock, bringing his team back on track following back-to-back losses.

However, both LSG and CSK captains ended up being punished after the conclusion of the game. According to an official IPL release, skippers Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been fined Rs 12 lakhs each for maintaining a slow over-rate in the game.

“KL Rahul, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow,” the statement read.

The same was the punishment for CSK skipper Gaikwad as well.

Gaikwad disappointed after another loss away from home

Ruturaj Gaikwad was disappointed after CSK succumbed to their third loss in four matches away from home so far. He felt that his batters could have done a bit more and scored some more runs.

“We finished well with the bat, couldn’t have asked more with the situation we were in. After powerplay, we couldn’t capitalise on the start we got and we kept losing wickets at regular intervals,” Ruturaj Gaikwad said at the post-match presentation.
