DC's Risabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs have recorded the highest-ever run rate partnership in the history of IPL at Delhi’s Monday match vs GT, surpassing the previous Klassen-Ahmed record.

Delhi Capital’s Rishabh Pant played a pivotal role the with the bat in their match vs Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, with a record partnership run rate with the wicketkeeper-batter Tristan Stubbs.

The DC skipper was in sublime form at his home ground clobbering 88 runs off just 43 balls with the help of five fours and eight sixes. Pant along with Stubbs went on to record the highest-ever run rate partnership in the history of IPL as well with a partnership of 67 runs in just 18 deliveries.

Stubbs came to bat in the 18th over, after the dismissal of Axar Patel, and tonked the GT bowlers to all parts. Stubbs ended with 26 off just seven deliveries with the help of three fours and two sixes.

In the 18th over, Stubbs and Pant hit 1, 4, 1, 6, 0, 2 off Mohit Sharma and added 14 runs to the team total. The following two overs were also in DC’s favour.

In the 18th over, Stubbs and Pant hit 1, 4, 1, 6, 0, 2 off Mohit Sharma. In the 19th over, Stubbs smashed two sixes and two fours off spinner Sai Kishore, yielding a total of 22 runs. In the final over, Pant tore in to Sharma with a stunning sequence of 6, 4, 6, 6, 6, The over went for 31 runs as DC posted a solid total of 224/4.

Pant and Stubb’s 67-run partnership had a run rate of 22.33,surpassing the previous highest record run rate of 21.75, set by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klassen and Shahbaz Ahmed. The duo had added 58 runs in 16 balls during their chase of 209 run-total, set by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The new highest partnership run rate record setters- Pant and Stubb’s fiery last 3 overs were a crucial part of DC’s Wednesday night match-winning effort.

Earlier, After winning the toss, GT skipper Shubman Gill chose to field first vs DC. Sandeep Warrier got GT to a good start claiming Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw early in the piece.

Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant teamed up for a big partnership, scoring 113 runs together. The final five overs of DC’s innings yielded 97 runs.

In reply, GT lost Gill early but Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudharshan got together for a stand of 82 runs in quick time for the second wicket. DC bowlers though kept taking wickets at regular intervals and even though David Miller provided some hope for GT with a whirlwind 55 off 23 deliveries, GT fell short of the target by 4 runs.
