Suryakumar Yadav took to social media to post a ‘broken heart’ emoji amid reports that the star Indian batter may miss the start of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
SKY has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury during the tour of South Africa in December 2023. He went to Munich, Germany for surgery in January.
Earlier this month, the 30-year-old had taken to social media to post his recovery journey video, in which he is seen walking cautiously just after his surgery but later in the video, SKY can be seen running and doing intense training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

On Monday, Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mark Boucher even clarified that the MI team management is currently waiting for updates from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding Suryakumar Yadav’s injury.
“Surya at the moment is on the guidance of the Indian cricket team as well. Just waiting for updates on that. I don’t like to micromanage. We’ve got a world class medical team that’s in control of all of that. Yes, the past, we have had a few fitness issues. We are always going to be in that sort of domain of having fitness issues as other teams are as well,” Boucher said at the MI press conference.
“Every time I look at my WhatsApp’s there’s reports of other teams also losing players. We trust our medical team that they’re doing the right things. Look, if we lose one or two from fitness perspective, it is what it is. That’s important and we just have to keep on the right track and sharp on replacements,” he added.
Suryakumar will be a key player in India’s T20I squad for the World Cup later this year which will be co-hosted by West Indies and USA in June. He boasts of an excellent record in the format for India having scored 2141 runs in 57 innings at an average of 45.55 including four centuries and 17 half-centuries.
