India's First Net Session Gets Underway Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 Opener vs Ireland; Virat Kohli Yet to Join Squad
The Indian team had a three-hour long net session that took place on Wednesday afternoon as they gear up for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Indian team have begun preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America. Rohit Sharma’s men have arrived in New York and have undergone their first practice session before the T20 showpiece event.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the players had a three-hour net session at Cantiague Park, located around five miles from the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.

Cantiague Park is one of the designated training facilities by the International Cricket Board and the report revealed that the ground had six drop-in pitches where the Indian team had access to three. It is revealed that the Indian team had two of the pitches being used for batting while the bowlers used the third one

The designated opening batters, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the batting session followed by the others per the batting order. The rest of the batters include the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were not actively involved during the nets session since they had only arrived sometime back after taking part in the playoff stages of the recently concluded Indian Premier League.

The report suggested that the training went smoothly despite it raining in several parts of New York. The practice session was not interrupted by showers which was ideal for the Indian team.

The only absentee from the squad is the icon Virat Kohli who is yet to join the team. His arrival is still unclear but he should join the squad soon.

Their next net session is reportedly scheduled to take place on 31st May, Friday.

The Indian team will continue their quest for silverware and their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign begin with Ireland as their opponents. The match is set to take place on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
