The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to grab the attention of all cricket fans across the globe as it is slated to begin less than two weeks from now.
As if the excitement behind a brand-new IPL season was not high enough, the news that Rishabh Pant has been declared fit to feature in IPL 2024 as a wicketkeeper-batter has only amplified the fervour and frenzy heading into the T20 extravaganza. Delhi Capitals today shared a heartwarming video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to give a glimpse of things to come ahead of IPL 2024.

The video shows a kid going to Rishabh Pant’s house to deliver the Delhi Capitals jersey to him. The video shared by the franchise shows a series of clips strung together and edited in such a way that it seems like the child has covered the entire area to reach Pant’s house.
“Aapko na bahut miss kiya, Rishu bhaiya, [I missed you a lot, Rishu bhaiya]”, said the kid who delivered the franchise’s jersey which was inside a gift-wrapped box.
“Thank you,” Rishabh Pant replied. “I am ready, milke machayenge. Roar! [I am ready, we’ll rock together. Roar]”, Pant added.

The fans finally received the announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding Rishabh Pant’s return which they had been longing for for a long time.
On Tuesday, the BCCI officially confirmed that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) had cleared Rishabh Pant and declared him fully fit to participate both as a wicketkeeper and a batsman in IPL 2024.

“After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024,” the statement read.
Earlier this week, BCCI secretary Jay Shah provided a massive update regarding Rishabh Pant’s chances of making it to India’s T20 World Cup squad, with the tournament slated to be played in June 2024.
“He is batting well, he is keeping well. We will declare him fit very soon. If he can play in the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us. If he can keep, he can play in the World Cup. Let’s see how he does in the IPL,” Jay Shah told PTI.

Rishabh Pant had been spending the last few months undergoing extensive rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru, even featuring in a few practice games in Alur. Now that he has been cleared to play in IPL 2024, fans can see him as early as March 23, in Delhi Capitals’ first game of the new season, which will be against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur.
