TCS Hiring 2024: IT Major Picks 10,000 Freshers From Top Engineering Colleges, Says Report
TCS Hiring 2024: The IT giant has increased its hiring efforts, buoyed by optimism for a demand resurgence in the upcoming financial year.

TCS has provided a much-needed boost to the hiring landscape by recruiting over 10,000 freshers in its latest drive, offering a welcome respite from the hiring slump.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the IT giant has increased its hiring efforts, buoyed by optimism for a demand resurgence in the upcoming financial year.

The report added that TCS is recruiting for three distinct categories: Ninja, Digital, and Prime. The Ninja category provides a package of Rs 3.36 lakh per annum across various roles.

Meanwhile, the Digital and Prime categories offer annual packages ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9-11.5 lakh.

Among other colleges, VIT students have been granted a total of 963 offer letters, with 103 specifically allocated for the prime category.

S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, the vice-chancellor of SASTRA University, told Moneycontrol that 2,000 offer letters have been distributed among 1,300 students at the college. This suggests that, on average, each student received more than one offer. However, a specific breakdown for students recruited by TCS was not provided.

Colleges have indicated that students selected for Digital and Prime profiles will be placed in development roles, whereas those in Ninja profiles will be assigned support roles, the report said.

In the previous month, the nation’s leading IT services firm revealed its commencement of fresher recruitment through the National Qualifier Test (NQT). This assessment platform, developed by TCS iON, aims to evaluate candidates’ cognitive abilities and skill proficiency.

In addition to Tata Group entities such as TCS and Titan, companies like Happiest Minds also utilize NQT for their hiring processes.

Previously, TCS announced its intention to onboard 40,000 freshers in FY24. However, the company experienced a significant decrease, with only 22,600 employees added during FY23, marking a sharp contrast to the net addition of 1.03 lakh employees in FY22.

This marked the company’s lowest net headcount addition since FY15, during which it added 19,000 employees on a net basis for the year.
