Shah Rukh on 'board' Jet Airways
Jet Airways has appointed Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan as a director on its board.

New Delhi: Jet Airways has appointed Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan as a director on its board.

Khan will be the third director from the film fraternity, following Javed Akhtar and Yash Chopra.

Jet has also appointed Pierre Jeanniot, former Director-General of Air Transport Authority, as director.

With the induction of Shah Rukh and Jeanniot, the strength of the Jet board has gone up to 14.

Earlier Jet announced its financial results for year ending March 2006. It posted 15.32 per cent rise in net profit for 2005-2006, to Rs 452.04 crore from the previous corresponding Rs 391.99 crore.

Jet has also introduced check-in kiosks service in the country to make life easier for passengers.

With Shah Rukh's induction, the Jet Airways scrip went up by 2.40 per cent to Rs 588.60 on the BSE on Tuesday, against the previous day's closing of Rs 574.80.

Recently Jet came under scrutiny when one of its employees in London was rounded up as a suspect in the Heathrow bomb blasts case.

The airline has seen over Rs 2,000 crore blocked in a legal tangle following the falling through of the deal.

Air Sahara has also had an association with film actors. It has Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan on its board of directors, while Kingfisher Airlines has model and item girl Yana Gupta as a brand ambassador.
