Mkts shine, close positive up 350 pts
The market moved in positive terrain on Thursday where it opened with heavy gap up on the back of strong global cues.

New Delhi: The market moved in positive terrain on Thursday where it opened with heavy gap up on the back of strong global cues. US markets ended higher as the Fed kept the interest rates unchanged at 5.25 per cent. Even the Asian indices closed in green.

All the BSE sectors ended in positive. Leading the rally were banking stocks followed by capital goods and auto. The breadth was extremely positive and on volumes higher than the previous trading sessions.

Sensex closed up 362.15 points or 2.80 per cent at 13308.03, and the Nifty up 111.35 points or 2.96 per cent at 3875.9.

The markets proceeded to trade higher and gained momentum on account of heavy buying seen across the sectors. The mid cap and small cap indices also ended higher but under performed the broader markets.

About 1620 shares have advanced, 917 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,395.24 up 54.11 points or 1.01 per cent.

The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 6,457.56 up 88 points or 1.4 per cent.

The BSE Bankex was up 4.3 per cent at 6,827.35. Bank of India, PNB, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Oriental Bank moved upwards.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 4 per cent at 8,973.06. BHEL, Larsen, Siemens, Gammon India, Thermax closed higher.

The BSE Health Care Index was up 0.4 per cent at 3,553.56. Wockhardt, Cadila Health, Sterling Bio, Ipca Labs, Divis Labs closed higher.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,045.93 up 3.1 per cent. Maruti Udyog, Hero Honda, Escorts, Tata Motors, Mah and Mah surged.

The BSE Metal Index closed at 8,431.09 up 2.2 per cent. Mah Seamless, Jindal Steel, SAIL, Sterlite Ind, Tata Steel advanced higher.

The BSE FMCG Index gained 2.7 per cent at 1,709.99. Dabur India, ITC, Nestle, HLL, Colgate closed higher.

BSE Oil and Gas Index closed higher at 6,444.48 up 2.7 per cent. ONGC, Reliance, HPCL, MRPL, BPCL ended in green.

The BSE IT Index gained 1.8 per cent at 5,095.28. Hexaware Tech, TCS, Satyam, Wipro, Moser Baer closed higher.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 7857.72 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 39944.69 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 3560.99 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 51363.4 crore.
