India batter Shreyas Iyer had positive things to say about India’s ‘young guns’ for playing fearless cricket against Australia. India were dominant in their five-match T20I series against the Aussies, bagging a 4-1 win over them. As the series came to an end, Iyer opened up on how he was impressed with the type of cricket the youngsters displayed on home soil.
The cricketer told Jio Cinema, “I have played with these boys and they are filled with energy…I love being around them and you get to learn a lot, especially the way they play fearless cricket and the attitude that they showed right from ball one”.

Shreyas Iyer also talked about his routined lifestyle since India’s Asia Cup triumph to prepare himself for the World Cup. “I had set a routine for myself right from match number one…I did not want any misadjustment happening in the middle…Trainers helped me perform at the biggest stage and I carried forward the confidence in the series,” Iyer added.
In the same interview, the India batter talked about how much he longed to bowl for his country but his strength and conditioning coaches requested that he rather not do that. He further talked about how he was already calculating seeing three wickets fall. He then praised India’s left-arm pacer for his brilliant effort on the pitch. “The shots, innovation has been on point and I could see Arshdeep’s calmness when he was bowling the last over,” he said, as per Sportskeeda.

Shreyas Iyer was a crucial element in India’s triumph over Australia in the five-series. In the fifth T20I of the bilateral tour, the India batter produced a solid knock of 53 runs off 37 balls. He smashed five fours and two sixes in the match to help post a competitive tally of 160 runs. In the second half, young bowlers did not let the intensity drop during the match as Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Ravi Bishnoi combined for seven wickets to pick up a narrow six-run victory.
Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India was already off to a good start with back-to-back victories in the opening games of the series. Australia’s first and only win in their tour came in the third T20I game by five wickets. It was Glenn Maxwell who scored an impressive 48-balled 104 runs to secure the match for his side. They still went on to lose the series in the following game.
The Men in Blue are next set to tour South Africa with matches in all three formats. It will be interesting to see if Shreyas Iyer can keep up his form against one of the best teams in the world.
