Volkswagen today announced the start of production for its premium SUV Tiguan at its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra. The Tiguan was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2016 and its introduction this year, will mark the brand's presence in the growing SUV segment.
The Tiguan will be available with a 2.0L TDI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The Tiguan will be based on the MQB (modular transverse matrix) platform and as per the company, it is already making waves in Europe where the second-generation Tiguan is the undisputed best-selling SUV in its class. The body proportions of the Volkswagen SUV are sporty and it will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The Passat, another Volkswagen vehicle to be launched in India this year, will be having its second run in the Indian market. Based on the MQB (modular transverse matrix) platform, Passat will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which will be mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox.
