Mercedes-Benz India has today launched the performance oriented GLC 43 AMG 4Matic Coupe for Rs 74.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the regular GLC, which is already on sale in India, this is the 8th product to roll out of the stable of Mercedes-Benz this year in India. This is also the third AMG model to make its way to the country this year, followed by the G63 Edition 463 and GLS 63 AMGs last month.
Just so you know, as per the new Mercedes nomenclature, any new AMG launched will replace the Benz in the Mercedes-Benz name and henceforth, will be called as the Mercedes-AMG. Thus, Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe. This is also the product with no predecessor in India and it is the first time that this coupe has set its foot in India.
Being an AMG, the engine is the most crucial component and the new GLC 43 is powered by a 3-litre V6 bi-turbo unit that is capable of producing 362 bhp of power and is mated to an improved 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is available in an all-wheel drive variant only in the country. The AMG GLC 43 can do 0-100 in just 4.8 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 250 kmph.
Visually, the new GLC 43 AMG gets a number of styling updates to differentiate it from the regular GLC SUV and GLC 43. The sloping coupe-like roof, the AMG-style exterior kit that includes the diamond-pattern grille, muscular front bumper, and the silver side skirts, and a well-sculpted rear are the design cues which give it an aggressive stance.
The cabin gets an all-black interior option along with red stitching, a flat bottom steering wheel, and red seat belts. Several carbon fibre trim pieces on the dashboard and the centre console are also used to make it look sporty. The 19-inch wheels from the AMG Sport line, sharp projector headlamps with LED DRLs, wide wraparound LED taillamps and a quad exhaust setup is some other standout features.
