In Pic: Jaipur Man Buys Ather 450 Electric Scooter with Rs 10 Coins

A man from Jaipur, Rajasthan, recently became the proud owner of an Ather 450 Electric Scooter, priced between Rs 1,09,947 and Rs 1,44,871 (ex-showroom).

What sets this purchase apart is the unusual mode of payment – the entire amount was paid using Rs 10 coins, as reported by Mint.

Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta took to social media to share the exciting news, posting a picture of the “new Ather owner” receiving the keys. Mehta’s tweet exclaimed, “A new Ather owner just bought himself a 450 in Jaipur…all with 10 Rupee coins!” The photo showcased numerous pouches filled with Rs 10 coins laid out on a table.

While Mehta didn’t specify the exact model of the Ather 450 series purchased by the Jaipur man, the Bengaluru-based EV startup offers three models under the Ather 450 series – Ather 450Apex, Ather 450X, and Ather 450S. Prices for these models range from approximately Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.45 lakh (effective ex-showroom price in Jaipur), with the on-road price potentially reaching Rs 1.75 lakh.

Besides this, Ather Energy is gearing up to launch its next electric scooter, the Rizta, targeting urban consumers seeking practicality over performance. The upcoming Ather Rizta is expected to feature a mature design, ample space for two passengers, LED lights, a fully digital instrument cluster, a spacious footboard, multiple riding modes, and a front disc brake, among other equipment and features.
