Seems like there is a new Bajaj set to be rolled out on Indian roads soon. According to a report by ThrustZone, the 160cc variants of the street-naked Bajaj Pulsar series – termed Bajaj Pulsar NS160 – has already begun reaching dealerships, indicating an imminent launch.
The company had showcased the NS160 at a dealers meet in Turkey last year, and ever since, it has been a much-anticipated launch by Bajaj.
The motorcycle is expected to look almost identical to its 200cc-engine equipped sibling barring, minor exterior touches and new graphics. It is also said that bike could be launched as early as July 2017, as reported by india.com Auto.
The NS 160 is expected to be powered by a derivative of the new BS-IV compliant 150cc engine that does duty on the new Pulsar 150. Interestingly, though, the engine of the NS 160 will get oil-cooling, making it the smallest production engine to be made by Bajaj having this feature.
The power output of the new NS 160 is expected to be around 15.5 PS and a torque output of 14.6 Nm and will come mated to a five-speed gearbox.
As for the price, the bike is expected to be priced at less than Rs 1 lakh (on-road, Delhi).
Upon launch, the new Bajaj Pulsar will compete against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-16 and Honda CB Hornet 160. Given that is one of the most popular styles of motorcycles that have been launched by Bajaj, the NS160 could appear to be a popular choice for probable 160cc motorcycle buyers. Especially, since it will be available at a much more competetive price tag as compared to its 200cc cousin.
