BLACKPINK's Jisoo To Make Her Big Screen Debut In Omniscient Reader
Jisoo of BLACKPINK will share the screen space with actors Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-seop for the fantasy film Omniscient Reader.

In her cinematic debut, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is set to make her presence felt on the big screen in the upcoming fantasy film Omniscient Reader. The film, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, boasts a star-studded cast that includes not only Jisoo but also Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-seop. Omniscient Reader is an adaptation of a popular webcomic of the same name, penned by Sing Shong and published in 2022. The story revolves around Kim Dok-Ja (Ahn Hyo-seop), whose life takes an unexpected turn when the book he’s reading becomes a reality.

In this strange new world, Kim is the only one who knows how the story concludes. Teaming up with Yoo Jung-hyuk (Lee Min-ho), the main character of the novel, Kim is determined to use his knowledge to change the course of events and create a different outcome. Together, they start on a journey to rewrite their destinies in a world where fiction becomes reality.

Within this fantasy world, Jisoo essays the role of Lee Ji-hye, Yoo’s coworker, deploying her combat prowess to assist in their mission. Alongside Jisoo, actor Chae Soo-bin portrays Yoo Sang-ah, Kim Dok-ja’s former colleague, who finds herself awakened in a reality shaped by the novel.

Director Kim Byung-woo, recognised for his work on The Terror Live (2013) and Take Point (2018), heads the film’s creation under the banner of Realies Pictures, renowned for its involvement in the Along with the Gods series. Notably, Smilegate, a global entertainment conglomerate, makes its maiden entry into film investment with this production.

In addition to Lee, Ahn, and Jisoo, the cast of the film also features Chae Soo-bin, Nana from Mask Girl, and Shin Seung-ho from D.P., portraying characters intrinsic to the novel and contributing to Dok-ja’s quest to rescue humanity. This film also marks the movie debut for both Ahn and Jisoo, with Jisoo having made a brief appearance in the 2023 film Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman.

Filming for Omniscient Reader started in December, and a definitive release date has not been confirmed yet.

As for Jisso, she assumed the role of BLACKPINK’s lead vocalist in 2016 before venturing into acting with the lead role in JTBC’s well-received drama series Snowdrop in 2021. Now, her fans and viewers can’t wait to see her on the big screen in a major role for the first time.
