Trains travelling in the same direction move at a fixed distance to avoid accidents. Similarly, the ones moving in the opposite direction are ensured to never move on the same track. However, a little mismanagement and negligence can result in the collision which may further claim lives. Recently, a video showing two trains arriving on the same track has gone viral. The clip left many intrigued whereas a few others criticised the management of the railways.

The video was dropped on Instagram by the handle named @saurabhyatra. The user accompanied the video with the caption, “Ek hi track par aai do train. Beauti of indian railways” which can be loosely translated to “two trains on the same track.” While it could have resulted in a collision if the trains were moving, the accident was prevented as they stopped at a distance of 100 meters from each other.

Many users commented on the video as they highlighted the unusual scenario with one of them even making a joke. He wrote, “Both trains, in love at first sight.” Another said, “The goods train is returnable, so that’s why is has one more engine at the back side for returning… By the way see the caution indicator of this WAG9 hC.” Meanwhile, a third said, “I think loco pilot are husband and wife… they are not stopping their fights here also.”

Earlier last year, a major train accident was averted in Chhattisgarh when a passenger train and a goods train arrived on the same track. The accident was avoided as both the trains stopped at a distance from each other. Later, the railways issued a clarification that it was a normal signalling process. There is nothing abnormal about it. As the incident occurred, several passengers got off the train to observe the accident.
