Things did not go in Malik’s favour as he managed to bowl three no-balls in the same over and concede 18 runs as well to give his side a poor start with the ball. Replays also showed that the bowler was well ahead of the crease which might be a concern.

With regards to the match, the Khulna Tigers went on to win the match with eight wickets and 12 balls to spare thanks to the brilliant opening partnership by Anamul Haque and Evin Lewis, both of whom scored half-centuries to put the Tigers on the front-foot during the run-chase.

This is not the first time a player from Pakistan has been suspected of match-fixing. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammed Amir had also pleaded guilty of spot-fixing which led to a five-year ban in 2010. While Amir has retired from international cricket, he continues to play in various franchise cricket leagues around the world.
