Several students of a college in Hyderabad were hospitalised after a suspected toxic gas leaked inside the science lab on Friday. However, police refuted reports of gas leak and said the student were getting breathless as foul smell was from wastage material of garbage.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon after which around 50 students complained of  breathlessness. The police said that all students are safe.

“Some of the students of Kasturba Gandhi Degree & Junior college were having their lunch at 2nd floor suddenly some foul smell was spreading in the rooms around 50 students were getting breathless, throat sour, vomiting sensation. Immediately Police rushed to the spot and shifted the students to Geetha Nursing Home. The clues team ascertained that the reason for foul smell is lifting of garbage nearby, around the same time. So far no complaints received, and all the students are safe,” the police said.
