A second triple-figure in the World Cup led to a commotion on social media as fans and people from the cricket fraternity began showering praise on the young batter. Former U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand called it a ‘top knock’ from Musheer.

“Reliving the past commentating at the #U19WorldCup2024 @cricketworldcup Top knock #musheerkhan @BCCI @StarSportsIndia,” Chand wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Here are some more reactions:

The Mumbai batter has been on a phenomenal run in the tournament so far. Though he got out cheaply in India’s campaign opener against Bangladesh, he bounced with a blistering ton against Ireland in the next game. Musheer blasted 118 off just 106 deliveries, with the help of 9 boundaries and 4 sixes, striking at 111.32.

He missed out on a second consecutive hundred when India squared off against the United States. Batting on 73, he lost his wicket to Rishi Ramesh in the 36th over of the innings.

Highest Run-getter for India

Musheer has been the top scorer for India in the ongoing Youth World Cup and the knock of 131 on Tuesday took him to the top of the table of the highest run-getters overall. So far, the 18-year-old has accumulated 325 runs in 4 innings including 2 hundreds and a fifty.
