Team India to Start Training in Rajkot From February 13 Ahead of Third Test vs England
Team India, currently on a break, will assemble in Rajkot on February 12 and will have their first practice session the next day.

The Indian cricket team will assemble in Rajkot on February 12 and will have their first training session the next day ahead of the third Test vs England which gets underway on February 15. Both India and England players are currently on a break in the long gap between the second and third Tests of the ongoing five-match series.

While Indian players will be enjoying the break at home, England will return to Abu Dhabi to spend time with their family members. The visitors camped in Abu Dhabi ahead of the series and will fly back to the city on Wednesday.

England coach Brendon McCullum said there will not be a lot of training during the break and they are looking at it as an opportunity to “enjoy (with) our families”.

“There will not be a whole lot of training. The boys have had plenty of training days and two varying Tests. This is a chance to step away from the heat of the battle and enjoy (with) our families. I spoke to Rahul Dravid (India coach) about this and he said his players are going home,” McCullum was quoted by Dailymail.co.uk.

The coach further added that Abu Dhabi was the ideal base for the break as they “are a long way from home”.

“Well, we are a long way from home so we chose Abu Dhabi instead. Then when we get to Rajkot we drop the shoulder and go hard,” added McCullum.

The series is excitingly placed at 1-1 with visitors registering a stunning win in the series opener in Hyderabad before the hosts fought back in emphatic fashion in Visakhapatnam. India are yet to name a squad for the remaining three Tests and, as CricketNext had reported, the squad is likely to be announced in the next 48 hours.

Star batter Virat Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests due to personal reasons and suspense around his availability for the remainder of the series continues. In Kohli’s absence, Rajat Patidar was named as a replacement while Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sunder were added to the squad for 2nd Tests due to KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s respective injuries.
